Innovative Applications of CO2 Across Industries

• Greenhouse Farming: It is pumped into greenhouses to enhance the photosynthesis process, which enhances plant growth, crop production, and crop quality respectively. It’s especially useful for crops that require high levels of CO2 such as tomato and cucumber plants.
• Carbonated Drinks: It is used in making carbonated beverages such as soda, sparkling water, and beer among others. They are responsible for giving these drinks their fizz and also adding to their Overall taste. CO2 is critical in the carbonation process and it means that without it the process cannot take place.
• Industrial Use: Carbon dioxide is used in many industries in the production of manufactured goods. The substance is employed to synthesize chemicals such as urea and methanol, to extract oil in the course of enhanced oil recovery, and to cool systems that require refrigeration. It is used in manufacturing and thus is one of the most valuable tools used in the manufacturing process.

• Growing Algae: Carbon dioxide is used to enhance the rate of algae growth to support the algae that is further used to prepare biofuels. These algae-based fuels are renewable and are also friendlier to the environment than fossil fuels and hence decrease the carbon footprint.
• Cleaning the Environment: CO2 is applied in the bioremediation technology to remove or clean polluted soil and water. The CO2 can be used to neutralize the pollutants in the polluted regions hence enhancing the health of the environment.
• Food Industry: CO2 is of particular importance for food packaging and preservation. It helps in preserving food by inhibiting the growth of bacteria and other microorganisms which may spoil the food. Furthermore, it is applied in carbonating food products such as carbonated ice cream making them more attractive and delicious to the consumers.
